This book is a great read for anyone who suffers from false moods. False moods are common everyday occurrences for many people and can range from unjustified anger, chronic stress, lack of excitement to full blown depression. In the Mood Cure Julia Ross addresses these moods and recommends nutritional therapy to combat them. Her approach involves a protocol of nutrient dense food and supplemental aids to get you functioning at your optimal happiness capacity.
The book begins by explaining what false moods are, and includes a questionnaire (link to online mood type questionnaire). This allows the reader to figure out their own personal mood type so they can focus on the chapter and recommendations specific to them. Julia offers a step by step approach to identifying, understanding and resolving the main mood issues that are impacting the lives of many.
The author recognizes four main mood types and dedicates a chapter to each.
The four main mood types identified in the book are:
1. Under a Dark Cloud: Low in Serotonin
2. Feeling the Blahs: Low in Norepinephrin or Thyroid
3. Over Stressed: Low in GABA or Cortisol
4. Too Sensitive to Life's Pain: Low in Endorphin
This books was really informative and it gives the reader a better understanding of the importance of amino acids, and what is going on chemically inside the body when you digest and break down different foods. I really liked the way the chapters were broken down and the easy to implement step by step process that the author offers. I recommend reading or listening to this book as an audio download. I was able to download it from my local library :)
